Posted by Hermann Glunkler (1885–c.1965), a German architect and YMCA representative interned during the First World War.
Addressed to A. J. Combridge & Co., Bombay, a prominent bookseller and publisher.
Glunkler later worked on the Jerusalem YMCA building project (1920s) before being interned again in Australia during WWII.
This envelope marks one of the earliest known examples of civilian German correspondence from an Indian POW camp.
